Big Data refers to the collection and analysis of large amounts of data. As the storage capabilities increase, so does the definition of "Big". A well accepted principle of Big Data is that it is the quality of data that matters and not the quantity. It is essential that proper consideration has been given to being able to understand the data that is being analysed.

Yes, storage space is cheap. Yes, computing power is cheap. And yes, software products are becoming more and more user-friendly. But these are not valid reasons to ignore the fundamentals of data analysis. If human beings are unable to understand what the data is about, computers are going to struggle in helping us make sense of it.
