Why do you need it?
ERP projects need a structured monitoring of issues before they get out of hand. It goes beyond the items that show up in a steering committee. In fact, it starts well before an issue escalates to a
steering committee.
As in all projects, you would have been through the pre-sales process. The budget would have been approved. The scope would have been defined at a top level. The project would have started with utmost enthusiasm.
About halfway through the project, the budget status starts ringing alarm bells. Closer to the planned go-live, scope starts being reduced. Some of the original requirements end up being moved into a “nice to have” category. In some cases, “must haves” fail user acceptance tests. The go-live suddenly risks being delayed. To make it worse, the costs risk being multiplied. The project itself risks being seen as a failure by the board.
All of this can be traced back to the start of the project. That’s where we can help you.
How do we help?
We have experience in detecting symptoms before the situation worsens beyond recovery. Even when a project has just started, there are indicators hinting whether the budget is going to start deviating. We highlight them and help you plan out a path to bring it back on track.
Sometimes it arises from misunderstandings between the pre-sales team and the delivery team. Sometimes it is a lack of disciplined focus of the delivery team on scope and budget. Sometimes it is both!
Having a third-party focused on governance insulates your employees from a distractions. It also avoids conflict of interest. Most importantly, it gives you the peace of mind to know that someone is looking out for you!
